Cafetiere a piston

Prenez une tasse, sirotez, et savourez!!

French press coffee is a true pleasure.
Not only do you get the true flavor of the coffee but it is quite an experience too.
On a good Saturday morning reading my book or even waiting for breakfast to come out of the oven (because Weisenberger Mill muffins seems to be the Saturday ritual at the Morgan household),

I will heat my water and steep my delicious coffee of choice.
For me there is nothing like Kenya in my french press.

Kenya and muffins- OH goodness!

Try this.
Try a french press.
You won't be disappointed.

The keys to perfect french pressed coffee:

  • heat your coffee water to almost boiling (195ish degrees)
  • freshly ground coffee is always preferred, and coarsely ground
  • for every 2 cups of coffee you are going to make, add one tablespoon of ground coffee. Most french presses are 8-10 cup (you can get smaller ones)
  • add your coffee grinds to the press :)
  • pour your hot water over the grinds evenly saturating them
  • I give mine a little stir before I put my plunger in
  • let it steep 5 minutes (or longer if you want it a little stronger)
  • plunge the press and ....
  • Prenez une tasse, sirotez, et savourez!! (pour a cup, sip and enjoy!!)

If you've never experienced the joy of the french press you have to venture into this morning ritual. Some people say it's the best cup of coffee they have ever had, and something about the art of steeping it and perfecting the french press cup of coffee.
Good for one, or two.

re-purposing old tins.

Searching through all the little antique shops around town I have found that old coffee tins are something special. Working at a coffee shop and seeing someone's collection really made me enjoy and appreciate what coffee was packaged in long before my time. Now that I have a small collection myself, I have found some ideas of how I am going to display and incorporate my old coffee tins throughout my house. I have some ideas to share if you yourself collect old tins of any kind.
Planting flowers in a tin is just adorable!
Make sure that you have some way to drain the water from the bottom, but looks really great and vintage for a home plant. What a great center piece to a coffee table of something refreshing and alive throughout the home. OR a DIY candle is another great idea. Re-purposing!!

If you are electrically savvy, you could re-purpose old tins into really cool light fixtures. You can purchase lighting kits at most hardware stores and create your own lamp or hanging light. The lamp posted above is quaint and cute for side tables, just enough light for reading at night on a bedside table. :)

Pinterest has really cool ideas for re-purposing old coffee tins.
You can use it for almost any kind of storage, decor, or get really creative and let your imagination go wild! Some are just so good they just need to be decorations. I have several around the house as a subtle touch of what I like/collect/enjoy ... COFFEE!

creative coffee table

Coffee tables are key to any living space. I love decorating a coffee table; one because everyone sees it and two because a good coffee table can pull a whole room together. I already LOVE drinking coffee so to have an inspiring coffee table and place to gather and share coincides with good coffee. Right?

Here are some coffee table I love ...

Plants and coffee ... yes, please!

Reusing unique license plates is such a great idea.

AN OLD TRICYCLE!

Recycling old windows and using wood from a cut down tree- all great ideas and so creative!
this is BOURBON country

There are tons of things around us everyday that that we can re purpose and reuse for household furniture.
